Customs seized PMS worth $10 million at the border with Cameroon

High quality motor oil worth over N10 million was seized by men of the Nigerian Customs Command, Adamawa/Taraba area along the Cameroon border, Bele community in Maiha, Adamawa Local Government Area of ​​Adamawa State.

The Bele community is one of the routes usually used by members of the dreaded terrorist Boko Haram to transport goods to their operational headquarters in the Sambisa forest.

This Mitsubishi truck with a Cameroonian registration number was loaded with jerry cans of Jerry fuel before it was intercepted at the Nigeria-Cameroon border in Adamawa State by anti-smuggling customs units.

The commander did not rule out that if the product was not intercepted, it would end up in the hands of Boko Haram elements.

He explained that smuggling did more harm than good to national growth by stifling trade policies on revenues, foreign investment, domestic trade protection and growth, food security and public safety.

The Comptroller added that smuggling networks are often linked to a variety of illicit activities, such as money laundering, terrorist financing and human trafficking, which he said could undermine national security and the rule of law.
